Team Fayetteville Continues Work With Children's Shelter
More than a one-off gift, Team Fayetteville’s TQL Cares for the Holidays project continues a lifetime giving tradition.
National sales recruiter Brooke H’s father owns a local restaurant; she recalled going with her dad to deliver food to the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter as a girl and seeing him buy presents for the kids at Christmas.
So when it came time to select an organization to assist, NWA Children’s shelter was a natural fit.
Fayetteville collected backpacks for the shelter at the beginning of the year and stepped up its giving efforts at the end.
The team brought 1,239 new items to the shelter – led by Branch Team Leader Brian W. and Fayetteville Team 2, which donated 510 items - including backpacks, books, lunch boxes, hygiene products, school and art supplies, toys and clothes.
“I check pretty frequently to see what they need,” Brooke said. “We did pretty much everything on their list. We had 100 percent participation.”
“Thanks to TQL Fayetteville’s generous support, the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter was able to provide crucial items to support the mental and physical well-being of more than 400 children in 2016,” said Danica Stout, development director at NWA Children’s Shelter.
“TQL Fayetteville is a great example of the positive influence individuals and teams can have on children suffering from trauma. We look forward to witnessing the future impact this team will make on the lives of the children we support.”
In fact, Team Fayetteville is in the process of getting on the shelter’s volunteer list to work directly with residents in its afterschool program.
“That’s really what we want to do,” Brooke said. “It’s really quite a process. There’s a lot of paperwork and background checks, but we’re passionate about it. We think we could be a great example and a great resource for kids who need us.”
TQL Cares for the Holidays shines a spotlight on what some of our people and teams around the company and country are doing to make their communities better during this traditional season of giving.
