The logistics of giving: TQL Cares Volunteer Challenge delivers record-breaking impact
TQL’ers from 52 offices give back to their communities, build lasting partnershipsBy Shannon Russell
Ninety days. Fifty-two TQL offices. Unprecedented volunteerism.
Total Quality Logistics employees showed up in a big way for the TQL Cares Volunteer Challenge, an annual initiative that encourages teams to get out and give back to causes they care about. From April through June, TQL’ers came together in record numbers to support the communities in which they live and work.
TQL employees completed a company-record 165 service projects, a 43% increase from the 2024 Challenge. Led by Charity Captains, the employees who raise their hands to organize team-wide charity initiatives, a record 1,950 participants helped a company best 105 nonprofits advance their missions.
TQL’ers volunteered for a combined 4,910 hours, the equivalent of three-quarters of a year.
“The passion and heart our teams showed during the TQL Cares Volunteer Challenge was nothing short of incredible,” said TQL Cares Supervisor Angela Holman. “Every hour, every project, every person who got involved—it all added up to something bigger. Volunteerism is part of what makes our culture so strong and why TQL is such a great place to work.”

There was no job too big or small for TQL volunteers. They cleaned beaches, prepped meals for seniors, played basketball with kids, and built houses for the unhoused. They initiated park cleanups, walked dogs, mentored others, and sorted donated food and recycled items.
For many TQL’ers, the Volunteer Challenge was the start of lasting partnerships.
Hunter J., a Logistics Account Executive and Charity Captain in Fayetteville, Ark., guided his team in its support of the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank. When TQL’ers weren’t bagging produce, they cleaned up trash, tidied produce on pallets, and chatted with other community volunteers.
Hunter plans to organize different food and donation drives throughout the year with NWA Food Bank to maintain a strong relationship. He found the Volunteer Challenge rewarding and enjoyed telling community volunteers at the food bank more about TQL.
“It feels great to be able to give back to the community, as I have always had a strong passion and drive for volunteering within the community and strengthening partnerships with local nonprofits,” Hunter said.
More than 1,300 miles away, Kayla K. was just as excited to participate in the Volunteer Challenge. Kayla, a Sales Group Leader and Las Vegas Charity Captain, joined her team in its support of Three Square, Southern Nevada’s only food bank.
Kayla’s team has completed three events with Three Square in 2025 and assembled 7,156 meals to date.
TQL employees’ duties at Three Square vary based on the nonprofit’s needs. Sometimes they assemble meals, while other times they set up shop in a kitchen. Wearing hairnets and gloves, they have packed kids’ lunches. They’ve also helped with aisle cleanups by cleaning boxes and pallets and removing old food or trash.
“Honestly, it’s my favorite place to volunteer because not only are we directly impacting our community, but we get to build stronger relationships with our sales team,” Kayla said. “Volunteering helps us foster a positive culture and strengthen our team connections through fun memories. It’s something a lot of us look forward to in the spring.”
