Key points:
  • TQL Cares exceeds $2M Moves that Matter pledge and ups commitment to $3M.
  • TQL provides complimentary logistics expertise and its vast carrier network to move donated goods through Moves that Matter.
  • The program aids food insecurity, children, military members, first responders and disaster relief.
As needs grow for people affected by hunger and natural disasters, so does Total Quality Logistics’ commitment to creating real change in communities nationwide.

After meeting its $2 million Moves that Matter pledge in 2025, TQL Cares has added another $1 million – raising its total investment to $3 million – to support ongoing humanitarian relief efforts.

Through Moves that Matter, the only program of its kind in the logistics industry, we provide logistics expertise and our 110,000+ carrier network to move donated goods to nonprofits in need, on time and at no cost. Moves that Matter was created to aid food insecurity, children, military members, first responders, and disaster relief.

Support during hurricane season
As part of our $3 million commitment, Moves that Matter is partnering with Matthew 25: Ministries to move charitable shipments during the Atlantic hurricane season. These intense storms, which occur from June through November, can seriously disrupt supply chains, making timely assistance critical.

Moves that Matter’s impact
Moving freight is complicated and expensive, and logistics isn’t an area of expertise for most nonprofits. TQL fills this gap by allowing nonprofit organizations to focus their time and resources on their missions rather than transportation management.

Moves that Matter unites TQL’s operational capabilities with social impact initiatives, providing a vital piece of the puzzle for nonprofits.

A glimpse of TQL’s impact through Moves that Matter:
  • We have moved 1,700+ charitable shipments and assisted 460 nonprofits since 2014.
  • We have moved over 58 million pounds of donated goods since tracking weight in 2020.
  • We have moved 12 million pounds of donated food annually and diverted over 1 million pounds of food from landfills in each of the last three years.
By teaming up with HelloFresh, the world’s leading meal kit company, Moves that Matter has transported over 640 loads of fresh food, or 23 million pounds, to six food banks nationwide. Moves that Matter has also partnered organizations such as Once Upon a Farm and The J.M. Smucker Co.

How Moves that Matter began
The program started with playgrounds. Following the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, the Where Angels Play Foundation asked TQL to transport playground materials in honor of the children lost, including 6-year-old Jesse Lewis, whose calls for help helped save six lives.

Through Moves that Matter, we moved six playgrounds at no cost to the foundation.

Moves that Matter soon began transporting essential goods, including sensitive shipments of food, water and medicine to people impacted by natural disasters.

A history of commitment
As an essential business during the 2020 Supply Chain Crisis, we saw firsthand how nonprofits struggled to distribute lifesaving goods. We pledged $1 million in donated transportation costs through Moves that Matter.

After exceeding that goal 30% faster than expected and seeing ongoing needs, we doubled our commitment to $2 million in May 2022.

Over the past three years, Moves that Matter has enabled meaningful work and measurable impact by redirecting overstocked meals to food deserts and assisting people impacted by weather-related events.

Recent Moves that Matter contributions:

  • Moving household goods, hygiene products, meals and water to communities impacted by five major hurricanes and other disasters, including the Los Angeles Wildfires.

  • Partnering with HelloFresh and Whirlpool Corporation as part of the “Feel Good Fridge Program,” which provides refurbished refrigerators to food pantries and nonprofits. Whirlpool supplies fridges, HelloFresh provides food and we move the donated freight. Together, we stock 350 grab-and-go style food pantry refrigerators nationwide and feed up to 250 needy families daily.

  • Transporting 28 high-quality hospital beds and four stretchers to Cedarville University’s School of Nursing, replacing training equipment that was more than a decade old.

  • Moving donated furniture and supplies from colleges and universities to schools affected by natural disasters.

  • Teaming up with children’s plant-based food brand Once Upon a Farm to move 1 million meals to the nonprofit Save the Children.
Moves that Matter started with the simple idea – to use our expertise to help people. Today, that mission moves millions of pounds of essential goods to communities in crisis and families facing hunger.

With our renewed pledge, we will continue providing critical support when and where it’s needed most.
