Three ways TQL keeps cold chain logistics on track
Comprehensive services, scalable solutions have customers coveredBy Shannon Russell
In today’s warehousing environment, sourcing flexible and reliable cold storage capacity outside of higher volume providers can be challenging.
High-volume warehouses provide integrated solutions to protect temperature-controlled products, but they also operate under a one-size-fits-all philosophy that lacks flexibility in scheduling and pricing.
Total Quality Logistics provides tailor-made cold storage solutions for all our customers. Our strategies are customized with pricing and capabilities based on shipper requirements that take into consideration an entire end-to-end supply chain.
Through a substantial carrier network, vast provider options and competitive service offerings, TQL ensures temperature-critical freight stays protected every step of the way.
We have been recognized within the logistics industry for excellence, including these awards:
- Food Logistics Top 3PL & Cold Storage Providers (14-time winner, including 2025)
- Supply & Demand Chain Executive & Food Logistics 2025 Top Supply Chain Project
- Food Shippers of America 2024 Top Food Chain Provider
1. An extensive carrier network – and more
We work closely with shippers to meet all logistical requirements, from security to contingency planning to scheduling. Our massive network ensures our shippers maintain competitive pricing and versatility when sourcing the cold storage link in their supply chain.
In addition to our network and service offerings, we use proactive warehouse management to book appointments, resolve issues and keep freight moving on time. We are ready to assist with 24/7/365 live customer service.

2. Comprehensive provider options
TQL can keep rates applicable to market conditions as a 3PL company without overhead costs to operate warehouses. By not owning warehouses, we have the flexibility to evaluate more providers.
Our network of 2,700 warehouses allows us to provide customized solutions like:
- Accommodating shipments of perishable food by meeting specific quality control requirements. For example, ice cream needs to be stored as low as -20 degrees, a service that high volume one-size-fits-all warehouses may lack. We vet warehouses for capabilities to accommodate temperature requirements – even blast freezing needs (when freight arrives fresh and needs a quick blast freeze to maintain its quality and shelf life).
- Identifying proper warehouse security for the shipper. We internally assign a tiered overall safety and security rating to every warehouse, which is evaluated on criteria from perimeter security to contingency plans. As part of our safety and security detail, we analyze a warehouse’s grid system and work with facilities to implement back-up generators for uninterrupted operations.
3. Competitive pricing
We manage customized solutions two ways:
- By coordinating the use of an entire warehouse space and subdividing it among multiple TQL shippers with similar commodities
- By finding niche warehousing capacity and working with the warehouses to reconfigure the storage space and meet our high standards with the anticipation of a long-term relationship
