TQL Moves that Matter Returns with Gift for Where Angels Play Foundation

Total Quality Logistics will donate $1,000 this month to the Where Angels Play Foundation as part of its Moves That Matter program.

Where Angels Play inspired the creation of Moves That Matter in 2014 when TQL learned it was entrusted to move the equipment to build the last six of 26 Connecticut playgrounds constructed in memory of each victim of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting.

The Moves that Matter mission is to “benefit charities and charitable entities arising from the experiences of TQL’s employees, customers and carriers. Every day, we work together to move freight throughout North America. While some loads contain ordinary shipments, others contain something extraordinary. They contain hope and healing. They rouse us to take immense pride in our daily job.”

Where Angels Play builds its latest playground this week in Wilmington, Mass., and plans a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday, Sept. 26. The playground honors the memory of Massachusetts Institute of Technology patrol officer Sean Collier, who was killed in the line of duty in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013.

“There are so many people working for good in our communities,” said Kerry Byrne, TQL president. “This is our way to thank them and encourage people working in the transportation industry. Our day-to-day work may not be well known, but we’re grateful for the opportunity to help those who are helping others.”
Moves That Matter is administered by TQL Cares, the company’s employee-driven community service initiative.
