TQL and HelloFresh Celebrate Delivering 100 Truckloads of Fresh Food to Communities in Need
TQL’s Moves That Matter and HelloFresh’s Beyond the Box Collaborate
Cincinnati, OH (November 4, 2021) — Total Quality Logistics (“TQL”), one of the largest freight brokerage and third-party logistics firms in North America, and HelloFresh, the world’s leading meal kit company, have collaborated to bring over 100 truckloads, or over one million pounds (over 835,000 meals) of fresh food to communities in need.
Through TQL’s Moves That Matter program, which coordinates the freight and covers the cost of transportation for donated goods, and HelloFresh’s Beyond the Box program, which provides fresh, nutritious food to those experiencing food insecurity, the two companies have delivered truckloads of donations to nonprofit food banks in Atlanta, GA, Philadelphia, PA and the Bay Area, CA.
“We started Moves That Matter in 2014 with a really simple mission — to utilize our resources and expertise to make transporting donated goods easy,” said Kerry Byrne, President of TQL. “Since then, we have had the honor of supporting the mission of more than 128 nonprofits. Our partners at HelloFresh are an incredible example of a company using their platform to make an impact on a major issue — food insecurity. We’re proud to have reached this milestone and we’ll be there for the next 100 loads.”
"HelloFresh is proud to have TQL as one of our trusted logistics providers and HelloFresh couldn't be happier to extend that relationship by mobilizing surplus food into our local communities through the Moves that Matter program,” said Jeff Yorzyk, Director of Sustainability at HelloFresh. “This partnership is a great example of how food resources are rescued from becoming waste and supports our mission to change the way people eat, forever."
“Philabundance’s partnership with TQL began during a critical time for our country, May of 2020,” said Elizabeth Sanon, Manager of Food Industry and Government at Philabundance. “Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the transportation of food has been one of the hardest-hit areas in the supply chain. Delivery fees have more than tripled, forcing some nonprofits to make challenging decisions on where to spend their limited resources. Thanks to TQL, we have felt less of this impact.”
“Second Helpings Atlanta is a nonprofit working to reduce food waste and insecurity in Metro Atlanta — TQL Moves That Matter program has been hugely impactful to us,” said Katie Maxwell, Operations Manager of Second Helpings Atlanta. “As a small organization with only one driver and one truck, having TQL manage and cover the cost of transporting HelloFresh ingredients has allowed us to support the meal kit program and freed up our truck and driver to carry out other important work, like rescuing surplus food throughout the city.”
TQL’s Moves That Matter program allows nonprofits and those donating goods to worry less about logistics and more about serving the community. The program covers freight transportation costs and lends TQL’s logistics expertise and 90,000+ carrier network. Apply for help moving your donated goods at TQL.com/movesthatmatter.
