Fort Lauderdale employee Chelsea A. has served up a competitive spirit since her days playing on the elementary school volleyball courts, starting at 7 years old.

She carried her love of volleyball into high school, also adding track and basketball to her athletic resume.

Her can-do credo continues to serve her well. “I’m a competitive person and am persistent in everything I do.”

The University of Kansas recently recognized Chelsea’s winning attitude and sportsmanship naming her Female Athlete of the Year during the Rock Chalk Choice Awards in Lawrence, Kansas. The award goes to one Jayhawk male and female student-athlete who achieved at the highest level in their most recent season.

For Chelsea, who grew up outside of Omaha, Nebraska, “It’s very humbling because there are a lot of deserving athletes. It makes me feel honored and very excited.”

After graduating with a degree in exercise science this past spring, Chelsea said she was referred to TQL; she’s hit the ground running and is excited for the opportunity to work for a “lively, competitive company.”

“I knew that I could succeed here,” she said.

She said the transition from the volleyball court to the sales floor has been a smooth one.

The Kansas alumna said although she enjoyed each moment of her athletic career – her fondest memory is scoring the winning point to lead her team into the NCAA tournament and an eventual Sweet 16 appearance in 2013 –  she is ready for the next challenge and excited for the journey ahead.

“TQL is a team-oriented and very fun environment,” Chelsea said.
