All In For Pinktober

Transportation for chemo. Lodging during treatment. A 24/7/365 helpline for fighters and their families. Wigs.

These are the things TQL’s donation dollars fund, said Alice Sowers, Director of Regional Corporate Relations for the American Cancer Society.

“I hope you feel how impactful that is.”

And, indeed, we do.

“As a company, we have been affected by this and other terrible diseases more times than we would like to count, myself included,” said Gary Carr, Vice President of Sales, who lost his sister to breast cancer in 2015.  “It is the memory of our loved ones who brought so much joy to our lives that motivates us this month.”

From Coast to Coast, TQL employees booked loads, cooked, baked, walked and ran to raise money and awareness during the month of October.

We also took some time to honor the fighters and survivors in our lives, dedicating dozens of pink ribbons to them on our live and virtual tribute walls.

Loads for a Cure, Pinktober’s anchor event, broke records again this year, raising $30,313 for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer program. From October 16-22, a portion of every load moved was donated to the organization.

In addition, employees’ grassroots efforts included Women in Logistics (WIL) bake sales at several of our satellites, a chili cook-off in Detroit, and participation in Making Strides Walks and Runs all over the country.

“We are so thankful for the support of TQL because when you guys decide to do something, you are all in,” said Alice Sowers, Director of Regional Corporate Relations for the American Cancer Society. “You are helping people get support during their cancer journey”

TQL’s overall impact this year was more than $37,000. Since 2010, we’ve donated $237,662 to the American Cancer Society for breast cancer initiatives.
