TQL's 2018 Pinktober Fundraiser Delivers $48,792 in the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Cincinnati (OH) – The pink ribbons adorning the Cincinnati headquarters of Total Quality Logistics (TQL) are gone until next October, but the green dollars raised from its ‘Pinktober’ fundraising efforts are going to do great things in the fight against breast cancer.

TQL donated $48,792 to the American Cancer Society. This brings TQL’s total donations since 2010 in the fight against breast cancer to more than $271,000.

“It’s our honor to raise funds in support of those fighting this terrible disease and in memory of those we’ve lost, especially those in our TQL family,” said Gary Carr, vice president of sales at TQL. Carr has a personal connection to this cause, having lost his sister, former TQL employee Vicki Bausch, to breast cancer in February 2015.

Funds were raised at TQL during October, breast cancer awareness month, through bake sales, raffles, cook-offs and sales of apparel and merchandise on the TQL online store. TQL’s Women in Logistics (WIL) group led 26 offices across the nation in Making Strides Walks, and TQL’s annual Loads for a Cure fundraiser, in which a portion of every load moved between the week of October 15-21 was donated to the cause, generated $33,492.

“TQL and its employees are a valuable and appreciated partner to the American Cancer Society’s mission. Because of their support, we are able to fund over $61 million in breast cancer research and support people through their cancer journey by providing free rides to treatment, free lodging for those travelling out of town for treatment and 24/7 information and resources through our free cancer helpline. We could not do this without the generous support of TQL,” said Alice Sowers, director of regional corporate relations for the American Cancer Society.

TQL’s Pinktober event also featured a physical tribute wall, where employees could post messages of support or pay tribute to cancer survivors or fighters in their lives, as well as a virtual tribute wall.

Pinktober is one of the many programs run by TQL Cares, the company’s employee-driven community service and charitable giving initiative, which began in 2006 to further teamwork outside the office and make a positive impact on the communities in which the company’s employees live and work. In 2018, through TQL Cares, more than 1.6 million dollars in donations and 3,000 volunteer hours have been given to more than 1,900 different charities.
