Donation doubled: Moves that Matter makes $2 million commitment

In 2020, as an essential business that saw the immense needs of communities and individuals directly affected by the pandemic, TQL pledged to donate time, expertise and $1 million in transportation cost through its Moves that Matter program.

Now TQL is doubling that donation to $2 million.

“We made the $1 million commitment a few months into COVID-19 when we saw the need to transport vital products to hospitals and communities. We’ve continued to see needs grow,” said Corey Drushal, TQL’s Corporate Giving Manager. “Nonprofits have even more barriers now to overcome when they need to move freight.”

Watch: Moves that Matter – 2022 Commitment

Moves that Matter, a TQL Cares program, promotes corporate giving and volunteerism by providing logistics experience and the use of a 130,000-plus carrier network. As global supply chain snarls and capacity issues have persisted, Moves that Matter has amplified its commitment to transporting donated goods to nonprofits that need them, on time and at no cost.

Moves that Matter has been so successful that it reached the halfway point of its initial $1 million pledge in less than two years – or 30% faster than expected. Resulting in the donation of $683,000 in transportation costs and delivery of 11 million pounds of freight.

The original pledge targeted a five-year finish but now is expected to reach completion by mid-2023. At that rate, TQL’s new $2 million donation is attainable by 2027’s end.

Drushal attributed the accelerated pace to a greater awareness of the charitable program during the pandemic, starting with TQL logistics experts promoting Moves that Matter with customers.

Moves that Matter has assisted over 150 organizations and 160 customers since its initial pledge two years ago. Donated services have addressed a range of needs, including food insecurity, children, military support and disaster relief.

Multiple food banks have benefited from a growing partnership between Moves That Matter and HelloFresh, the world’s leading meal kit company. TQL has transported more than 100 truckloads of fresh food to nonprofit foodbanks and communities in need, including Second Helping, Saint Mary’s Food Bank Alliance and Philabundance.

“We’re proud of the rapid progress made by Moves that Matter and excited to continue its mission to help those in need,” said Drushal. “We’re just getting started.”
