Women in Logistics spotlight: Morgan

Women in Logistics (WIL) is an Employee Resource Group that attracts, connects and develops the TQL community of women by providing internal networking opportunities, professional development and community involvement. WIL spotlights its members regularly to share their stories of success.

Meet Morgan, a Senior Finance Manager and Chief Warrant Officer 2 in the Army National Guard.

Morgan was inspired to enlist 14 years ago by her military-serving family, including her mother, Tina, a retired Army veteran and current TQL Travel Coordinator.

As we celebrate National Veterans and Military Families Month, we salute Morgan, Tina and all TQL veterans and active-duty military members.

How does your military experience impact you at TQL?

Army values and TQL’s winning principles are fundamentally the same. The Army taught me discipline, leadership and teamwork. These values have directly contributed to leading a successful team at TQL.

Technical skills and experience also carry over. I spend my time with the military working in a logistics cell, contributing subject matter expertise that allows us to support a mission’s operation.

During my unit's deployment in 2020, I oversaw the movement of heavy engineering equipment by ground, air and sea across eight countries in the Middle East. This experience greatly impacted my appreciation of everything we do here at TQL and expanded my knowledge of the transportation industry.

What are the benefits of having more women and diversity at TQL?

I am very proud to be a part of the leadership teams for two of our ERG groups: WIL and VETS.  Each of these diverse communities offers a unique perspective on the business. Celebrating diversity is a key part of TQL culture. The benefits shine through in our employee satisfaction, retention and opportunities for professional growth.

Best career advice you’ve received?

"No one else can do the work for you." If you have a goal, you have to put in the work. There are no shortcuts to success.

How do you maintain work-life balance?

I recently had a baby girl, which turned my work-life balance on its head. Over the last few months, I have spent a lot of time re-establishing routines and creating boundaries that fit my new lifestyle. This has not been easy, and I must remember to give myself grace as I figure it out.
