Q: What does a relocation specialist do, and how do you make moving easier for new hires in the Fast Track program?
Rowan: Whether someone is flown to HQ for a Fast Track job shadow or visiting to tour apartment options in the Cincinnati area, I am their on-site contact who leads their tour, takes them to meet their manager and answers all questions about TQL or what it’s like to relocate to Cincinnati. After accepting an offer at any of our three Fast Track locations, I become their one-stop shop for relocation support. This includes apartment assistance, advice on where to live and help navigating any issues.

Rowan: My firsthand experience in the program helps me speak transparently and relate to candidates on a personal level. I’ve been in the same position – from navigating relocation and hands-on training to something as simple as missing their mom.

Today as a leader in the Fast Track sector, I tackle difficult scenarios with composure, and I confidently pitch ideas to elevate the program based on my personal experience.

Q: What is your advice for new program members preparing to relocate?
Rowan: Take care of your housing arrangements as early as possible. The best thing I did was move early so I could get familiar with the city and settle in. I had time to unpack, get involved in activities outside of work and enjoy experiencing a new place. On day one, exposure is everything and people notice the small things like staying late, working through lunch, taking notes and more. Make it a priority to be remembered early on for your hard work and going the extra mile because it will pay off down the road.
