TQL's BEST Group on Black History Month
TQL’s BEST (Black Employees Supporting Talent) Employee Resource Group (ERG) was formed in 2020.
Sales Managers throughout the country worked together to encourage individuals who self-identify as Black, African American, Western Indian and of African descent to join the organization and build a strong support system in and out of offices. Vic N, Founder of BEST said, “After learning about forming and sustaining ERG’s, we know that people stay with organizations longer when they feel supported within their community.” The goal of the group is to attract, retain and develop employees by enhancing their engagement, connecting them to resources, while promoting their personal and professional growth.
Since starting the group, ambassadors in each office have collaborated with TQL Cares, Learning & Development, Recruiting and other departments to better the program. Partnering with these internal groups has given individuals the chance to support the black community with fundraisers and volunteer work, while enhancing their career through development training and networking events. “With over 1,000 employees involved today, I have a great sense of pride in creating something that has helped support so many people. I’m very proud of my ancestry and my history, and BEST allows us to tell our story from our perspective,” said Vic.
In honor of Black History Month, Vic and the ambassadors hosted a donation drive for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund in addition to the company’s $1,000 donation. They also put together a series of events, including a talent show that features artists in the community, and created webinars about professionalism and personal development. Around the office, our BEST employees proudly support their TQL BEST T-Shirts and banner, encouraging others to join the group.
