TQL Hosts 5th Annual Heart Month Trivia Night
In February, in honor of the 57th consecutive National American Heart Month, TQL hosted its own Heart Month, benefitting the American Heart Association (AHA). Teams across TQL’s 56 offices were challenged to raise funds and awareness for heart disease, which effects approximately 121.5 million U.S. adults each year, through different activities and company-wide events.
On Wednesday, February 23rd, over 100 teams participated in TQL’s 5th annual Trivia Night, resulting in donations of $9,015 from participants to AHA, a record-breaking total for trivia-only donations. The event was held at TQL HQ in Cincinnati and was live streamed to satellite offices across the U.S. where employees participated. Categories included Classic Cartoons, Famous Brands, 2000’s Pop Music, University Mascots and Fitness & Heath. Donations amounted to a 26% year over year increase, totaling $152,708 donated to AHA as of 2022. The winning team was awarded bragging rights, gift cards for each team member and a beer drop for their entire office.
In addition to participating in trivia night, TQL’ers also participated in heart-healthy team activities to show their support of heart wellness and educate each other on keeping a heart-healthy lifestyle. Ashlee N., a charity captain from Team Detroit, organized group pushups to occur every hour on the hour. They completed over 500 pushups as a group over the course of the day. Team Tampa organized a basketball outing where several TQL’ers enjoyed the Florida sun and got their hearts pumping.
Teams were also encouraged to host heart-heathy potlucks throughout the month. The Marketing Team at HQ enjoyed a jam-packed parfait bar which included yogurt and various heart healthy toppings. A team within the Detroit office even made smoothies as a heart-healthy treat.
Additionally, some teams wrote their heart-healthy goals on paper hearts and hung them on the walls to share their goals with their teams. Goals included things like adding more cardio to their daily workout routine, improving stress management, and generally eating better. And on Wednesday, February 23rd, teams were encouraged to wear red to further raise awareness of heart disease and support AHA’s cause.
To top off the month-long, heart-healthy activities and fund raising, TQL HQ, which sits along major highway, I-275, in Cincinnati, OH, was lit up with red and pink hearts all month to show support of AHA and spread awareness of heart disease.
