The Army National Guard Shapes Sales Leader's Career – Three Times Over

Picture Of A Man With National Guard Description Next To It

Persistence is nothing without consistency and quality.  Just ask TQL sales team leader Andrew Carpenter.  In his seven-year career at TQL, he has paid off his sales draw not once, not twice, but three times. The first time was to become a Logistics Account Executive. The subsequent two were because he took a leave of absence to join the Army National Guard and complete training.

“Those were the rules,” said Andrew of the now-eliminated draw system. “I knew when I was joining the Guard that I’d have to do it again when I got back, so I just put my shoulder into it and did it.”

Joining the Army National Guard was something that Andrew always wanted to do, and when he approached his TQL sales manager about it, he was pleased the reaction was positive. “He was completely on board,” said Andrew.

“It was a no brainer,” said then-sales manager Rick B. “He was already honest and thorough with his customers, and a leader among the people on his team. I knew the Guard would only strengthen those qualities.”

“The Guard helped me understand that leading a team means getting people with different values and perspectives to work together toward a common goal,” said Andrew. “The same applies here.”

And what does Andrew say of earning and re-earning his draw three times?

“I knew if I did it once, I could do it again.”
