March is National Book Month and Total Quality Logistics is helping the Boys and Girls Club of Clermont County celebrate.

“They’re doing different things to help promote reading,” said Corey D., corporate giving specialist. “This week the Boys and Girls Clubs of Clermont County is having people from all over the community come in and read to students.

“They reached out to us as one of their partners and we have 10 people going to three different locations to read.”

More than just read. Each guest reader also provides a new book for the club to keep in its library.

“We are developing our future leaders through stories and imagination,” Corey said. “It’s important for the kids to see that people who have different jobs and backgrounds care about them and their education.”

It’s an opportunity TQL takes seriously. So much so, executive sales director Joe T. serves on the Boys and Girls Club of Clermont County board. He was one of the guest readers at Glen Este Middle School March 22.

Marketing specialist Alex L. – who was a middle school teacher before coming to TQL – said she plans to read excerpts from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series at Glen Este Middle March 24.

“I just love reading out loud,” she said. “For kids to become fluent readers they need to hear what fluent readers sound like. One of my favorite things about being a teacher was reading to my kids. I’m excited to bring something from my past job into my life at TQL.”

Communications specialist Colleen B. read Miss Daisy is Crazy to students at Amelia Middle School March 21.

“It’s one of those books that’s funny and silly,” she said. “It’s about a bunch of third graders and their misadventures at school.

“There’s a whole series of them, like Miss Daisy is Crazy and Mr. Klutz is Nuts. They’re kind of meant for younger readers, but those kids are in school from 7 a.m., so I figured at the end of the day a nice, funny read would be welcome.”
