Air National Guard Provides Opportunities

DENVER (Colo.) – One doesn’t need wings to fly high, although being around airplanes – specifically fighter jets - has been a passion for Lindsay Reeman.

She grew up in Perrysburg, Ohio, and developed an interest in flying. She joined the Ohio Air National Guard near Toledo and her original major at Bowling Green State University was aviation. (She later switched and earned her degree in business management.)

Still active after 16 years in the Air National Guard – now serving in Colorado - Reeman is a space and missile warning officer. In other words, she tracks nuclear threats arounds the globe.

She’s been with TQL for almost 10 years, beginning as an LAET when headquarters was in the Edison Building in Milford. However, before she finished broker training, she put her military experience to work and joined the outside sales force to help land military accounts.

Now she’s based at TQL Denver and is part of the national sales team.

“It was a big advantage for me, having that background,” she said. “Being able to talk not just in the military lingo, but to have a national and global perspective.” (Reeman deployed to Qatar in 2005.)

Much of her military experience has been a boon to her work with TQL.

“Being an officer, I’ve had a lot of leadership training, which I believe is useful in any career field,” she said. “It’s also beneficial to be able to multitask and to be disciplined about following up and finishing a job or task. That attention to detail is important in the Guard and it’s very important to our customers.”

And it’s important to TQL as the company celebrates its inaugural Military Month this July.

“We hire veterans and active duty members of the military because they possess the skills and values we are looking for – an outstanding work ethic, the ability to learn new skills quickly, and the tenacity for creating success in any situation,” said TQL President Kerry Byrne.
