WIL Collects Toys; Sales Support Packs Meals
A new partnership between Inter Parish Ministry and TQL’s Women In Logistics group helped stock IPM’s shelves with toys for the Christmas season.
The Cincinnati Enquirer ran a story on the event Dec. 7, in which IPM expressed gratitude for its community partners.
“This year’s Toy Store was the best one yet,” IPM program coordinator Sarah Cadle said. “Due to an overwhelming response by the community and local businesses, our tables were well-stocked and the families we helped left with the joy of knowing their children will have a wonderful Christmas.”
The IPM Toy Store provided more than 50 families the opportunity to buy brand-new toys ranging in price from $1 to $3.
Senior HR manager Tracy B. led the TQL effort, setting up toy collection locations at three Cincinnati area offices - Ivy Pointe, Edison and Cincy East - during the month of November.
Tracy made contact with IPM through her work with the Clermont County women’s award planning committee.
“WIL is working to be more involved in the community,” she said. “We wanted to partner with IPM because it's a great way to be involved, to be part of the community and make a difference in the lives of others.”
Sales Support leadership in Tampa bagged meals for victims of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti, partnering with October Moves That Matter recipient, Feeding Children Everywhere.
“We were looking for a way to contribute this holiday season,” said sales support manager Bryce H. “Hurricane Matthew is something that hit both Haiti and Florida and seemed like a great way to give back.
“Sales Support had not volunteered with them before, but they are a charity that started in central Florida and spread nationwide. The best part of today was knowing each bag we touched was going directly to someone in need. Any type of donation is wonderful, but knowing we were in direct contact with food that would soon be in Haiti was different.”
The TQL group was part of a larger contingent of about 100 volunteers who bagged 286,560 meals – more than 10,000 past the day’s goal of 275,000 - in just five hours. The mayor of a city in northern Haiti was even on hand to thank the volunteers.
