TQL Competition Raises Stakes For Giving
We kicked off TQL Cares for the Holidays at the end of November. Teams around the company and country have been busy sharing their time, talent and treasure with those in need.
TQL Cleveland received a letter from Independence, Ohio, Mayor Greg Kurtz inviting the office to participate in the community’s annual Yuletide Hunger Program.
The office quickly divided into STL teams – whichever brought in the most canned goods would win a happy hour – and then all but ignored hizzoner’s request for help.
“It took us three weeks to hit 300 cans,” said GSM Jason S. “And then the last day (Dec. 3) two STLs went head to head for the top spot.”
The result of the sandbagging was more than 1,400 cans, 288 percent of the office goal. Daniel H’s team won the event, with Daniel himself providing more than a quarter of the cans collected by the entire office.
“Regardless of who won, this has been an amazing job by each and every one of you who donated,” said LAE Michael F.
Team Charleston made a gift of $200 to the Low Country Food Bank Dec. 3, as well as giving a selection of non-perishable food items.
“Our donation will help create 1,200 meals for them to share with those in our community who experience hunger this holiday season,” said national sales recruiter Cassie K.
Team Detroit collected food for two weeks and made a donation of more than 330 pounds of food to Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan Dec. 3. The gift will provide meals for 277 people.
“We researched the organization, and worked with them last year as well,” said national sales recruiter Tricia M. “It’s a well-known organization in this area.”
TQL Tampa – much like an effort at headquarters – signed and delivered 1,014 Christmas cards for American troops deployed overseas. The office worked with radio station 99.5 QYK on the effort to brighten soldiers’ holiday.
“As an office of just upwards of 200 we had to push for an average of five cards signed per person,” said recruiter Jazmyn H. “Down to the last minute of the last day, we were running behind on our goal, but we came through, exceeding the goal by 14 cards. We dropped off the cards and snapped some pictures with Dave and Veronica, the morning show hosts at QYK.”
The card drive came on the heels of Tampa’s impressive display of artistry and generosity in raising more than 1,000 pounds of food for Feeding America Tampa Bay last month.
