TQL Raises $45,799 to Support Breast Cancer Research

Cincinnati, Ohio (October 30, 2015) -- Total Quality Logistics (TQL) offices across the nation raised $45,799 during its Pinktober campaign – the company’s month-long blitz to support breast cancer awareness and fundraising. TQL has raised more than $164,000 to support breast cancer research and patients since 2010.

“By spreading awareness and raising funds for breast cancer research, TQL honors those who have lost their battle and we continue to show support and celebrate the survivors of this disease,” said TQL President, Kerry Byrne.

Pinktober is part of TQL Cares, the company’s employee-driven community service initiative. All funds raised go to the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer effort. Employee fundraising efforts ranged from traditional bake sales to the final, hair-razing Great Shave event.

The Great Shave featured TQL managers from across the country offering up their heads for the cause. Employees raised funds – ranging from $1,000 - $5,000 – to earn the right to shave their managers’ heads. On Oct. 29, 10 managers or vice presidents of TQL, and 2 additional employees, came home from the office with a new ‘do and the pride of helping add $22,562 to the fundraising pot.

Other company fundraising efforts included:

TQL Loads for a Cure – As one of the largest freight brokerage firms in the nation, TQL arranges truckload transportation for freight loads needing to move from point A to point B. During the week of Oct. 19 to 25, $1 from every load arranged went to the Pinktober effort, raising $23,805.

Making Strides walks – TQL offices across the U.S. participated in The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks.

Car Smash – TQL employees in Cincinnati had the opportunity to take a swing against breast cancer, by purchasing the opportunity to demolish an old car with a sledgehammer, bat or crow bar.

Personal Tributes – A Pinktober web page featured tributes to company employees battling or lost to the disease and a Virtual Tribute Wall gave employees, customers and carriers the opportunity to post their own personal tributes to family members and friends. Pink ribbons were sold for $1, as well as Breast Cancer polos.

Additionally, TQL headquarters’ building in Cincinnati, Ohio was lit up in pink all month to show the thousands of motorists passing by each night the company’s support for breast cancer fighters and survivors.
